Masterclass led by
baritone GEORGE PETEAN and CODRUȚA GHENCEANU (pianist)
June 9-14, 2025, Cluj-Napoca, Romania
RULES AND REGULATIONS
From June 9-14, 2025, a masterclass will be held by baritone George Petean alongside pianist Codruța Ghenceanu, with 14 active participants. The courses will take place daily in two working sessions:
- The first from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM;
- The second from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
The masterclass is aimed at young lyric artists (students, master’s, and doctoral candidates) enrolled in academic institutions in Romania or abroad. It will be conducted in Romanian, English, Italian, and German, depending on the participant’s preference.
To apply, candidates must submit a link to a recording of an opera/operetta aria from the universal repertoire, performed in the original key and language, along with an updated CV, a portrait photo, and a certificate confirming their status as a student/master’s candidate.

REGISTRATION AND FEES
Selected candidates will be notified by email by May 25, 2025. They must pay a fee of 400 RON (students and master’s candidates) or 500 RON (doctoral candidates) by June 1, 2025. The payment receipt, confirmation of participation, and the selected arias in PDF format must be sent to contact@acaf.ro by June 1, 2025.
Payment should be made to the ACAF account RO21BTRLRONCRT0674578601 at Banca Transilvania, with the note: “GHEORGHE PETEAN MASTERCLASS FEE”. The registration fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
USEFUL INFORMATION
- Passive participants can attend the masterclass free of charge, subject to available seats.
- ANMGD students and master’s candidates may opt for fee reimbursement through ANMGD Research Funds.
- Students from other cities are offered free accommodation and lunches in the student dormitories/canteens of ACAF’s partner universities in Cluj during the masterclass.
- ACAF does not cover transportation costs for participants.
- Participants will receive a diploma certifying completion of the program.
REPERTOIRE
There is no imposed program for this masterclass. Active participants’ repertoire will consist of two arias they can perform at a high artistic level. Selected candidates will submit these arias in PDF format, along with confirmation of participation.
GALA MASTERCLASS
On June 14, 2025, at 6:30 PM, the Gheorghe Petean Masterclass Gala will take place in the Auditorium Maximum hall of the “Babeș-Bolyai” University.
